Hanako is very cheerful and lively; she always seems to be moving around and looking for something to explore. However, while this may cause him to come off as innocent or naive, he's extremely intelligent and perceptive. She's also rather paranoid, and is constantly scanning for reasons to be afraid or to go into hiding. He has a very bad self image and tends to view himself as a "monster" of some sort, hence the self given nickname "Nekobake". She wants more than anything to feel loved, but having been denied it for so long, often doesn't know how to respond when shown affection or care.
Biography:
Hanako was the result of an experiment trying to create a super-powered human, specifically one with the abilities of a cat. After her host mother, a native woman, gave birth to her she was raised in confinement so that tests could be done on her ability to respond to certain situations. Due to the cat genetics, within a year she was a fully grown adult - and due to the pain of the tests she was put through, she lashed out. Hanako ended up attacking several of the people who held her and escaping into the surrounding cities.
For around a week Hanako was homeless and spent all of his time making sure no one saw him or noticed him. He would often catch birds for food, and didn't know where to go or who was safe to turn to. However, when she was found by someone named Clarity, they earned his trust and took him in to help him stay safe.
Staying in Clarity's apartment, they did their best to teach her everything she needed to know, and to provide her with clothes, shelter, and food. Hanako was extremely grateful, but often didn't know how to express it - nevertheless, they dyed her hair and went to great efforts to change her appearance so she wouldn't be recognized by anyone who might want to hurt her.
Hanako learned extremely fast, and after a year was able to start working at a nearby clothing shop to help Clarity out with rent and other necessities. The two had grown to love each other dearly. But one night while at work, someone stuck a syringe in Hanako while she was distracted, causing her to pass out.
At first upon waking, nothing seemed to have changed. Scared, but determined to keep working, Hanako finished his shift and went home. However, once a week or more afterwards, strange transformations began taking place. Hanako found himself waking up in unknown locations covered in blood, hearing voices speaking to him. Somehow, he always ended up back home, and thus he wasn't even sure if all of it was just insane nightmares. However, it continued to happen, and he was sure it was real when he woke up at home obe day and still had blood on him.
Hanako had been infected with what could only be described as an "eldritch virus" - a string of eldritch genes that was causing her to have fits of eldritch power. She doesn't know how to control these abilities yet, or who to turn to for help - as such, she continues a cycle of destruction and rage, while trying to balance it with her normal life with her girlfriend and the effects of her past.
